23rd July 2008
Norfolk Square Brewery is happy to announce that there were 3 winners of the competition to name our first beer,
all with a variation to the name Pi. These are Mr Graham Brighton, aged 58, married with 2 children. He is an
engineering contractor. The second winner is Mr Stephen Turner, aged 53, who also has two children and works for
the National Grid, and the third winner is Mr Darrell King, a retired school teacher. All the winners are from the Great Yarmouth area.
They collected their prize, of one third of a firkin of real ale each at the N²B Real Ale shop where they also sampled beers from
our range, including Stiletto and Scroby Bitter.
The winning name is Pi and the beer is a light amber bitter with a fresh hoppy, citrus aroma, a serious thirst quencher.

N²B has been awarded 5 Star Food and Hygiene by the Environmental Health department. As part of our effort to produce
quality beers we endeavour to keep a high standard of hygiene in the brewery. So it was quite satisfying to receive the top
award for Food and Hygiene.

N²B is represented at the Great Yarmouth beer festival. It was certainly an interesting and fun experience with over 50 Real Ales
on offer. We put up a firkin so the festival revellers could sample some of our beer and get some inspiration with naming it.

We have completed our first brew. We have been brewing for quite a while both at home and in other breweries, but it was
still a daunting experience to do a first brew on a new plant. Fortunately we had Brendon over giving us a hand and ensuring
all worked to plan.
The recipe is a 3.8% ABV bitter, slightly hoppy and amber in colour. We are currently running a competition to name the
beer, so look our in the new NIPS, Great Yarmouth beer festival guide and in the Great Yarmouth Mercury.
Below are some pictures of the brew taking place.

The day finally arrived. Our brewing plant arrives to much excitement. It did take a lot of lifting to get into place
and at one point we had to summon assistance to put a fermenter in place.
